Shidduch Lounge ("we," "us," or "our") is a Jewish matchmaking platform operated at 4 Franklin Place, Woodmere, NY 11096. Our platform connects singles with shadchanim (matchmakers) through structured, event-based matchmaking. You can reach us at hello@shidduchlounge.com.
Information You Provide: identity information (first and last name, date of birth, gender); contact information (email address, phone number, city); profile information (occupation, "about me" text, religious/hashkafa category, dating preferences, open-to categories, background details, and dating status); questionnaire responses (answers to multiple-choice and other profile questions about you — including, but not limited to, lifestyle, values, hashkafa, family background, personality, dating preferences, and what you are looking for in a match; these are used to help shadchanim suggest more compatible matches and may be visible to shadchanim and admins as part of your profile); photos (profile photos you upload, and photos taken or uploaded by shadchanim on your behalf, which are visible only to shadchanim and admins); résumé and supporting documents you choose to upload; and account credentials (email and hashed password, or Google account information if you sign in with Google). Information Generated Through Use: event data (RSVPs, attendance status, check-in records, withdrawal reasons); matchmaking data (interests expressed, suggestions made or received, match status, date logs, and related notes or reviews left by shadchanim); pass transactions (purchase history, pass balance, Zelle payment requests); activity logs; and communications (emails sent to you from the platform are logged, including subject, type, and delivery status). Information Collected Automatically: session data (server-side sessions stored in our database to keep you logged in) and standard web logs (IP address, browser type, and pages visited, as retained by our hosting infrastructure). Payment Information: credit and debit card payments are processed by Stripe — we do not store your full card number, CVV, or billing address; this data is handled entirely by Stripe and is subject to their privacy policy. We store only your Stripe Customer ID for billing continuity. Zelle payments are processed manually; we store your submitted payment reference code and confirmation status.
We use the information we collect to: create and maintain your account; facilitate matchmaking, suggestions, and event attendance; use your questionnaire responses to help shadchanim identify and recommend more compatible matches; enable shadchanim to view profiles, take notes, leave reviews, and coordinate matches; process event pass purchases and maintain your pass balance; send transactional emails (account approval, RSVP updates, match notifications, payment confirmations); send event emails, including announcements of upcoming Shidduch Lounge events and reminders about events you have signed up for; send automated SMS text messages to your mobile number for account notifications, event updates, matchmaking updates, and payment confirmations (see SMS consent in our Terms and Conditions, Section 7); send optional platform updates and digest emails (you may contact us to opt out); display your profile to other users in accordance with your sharing preferences and role-based access rules; administer and improve the platform; and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances. Within the Platform: your profile is shared with other users according to your role and settings. Other singles can see your public profile (name, age, photo if sharing is enabled, hashkafa, occupation, about, and résumé if shared). Shadchanim and admins can additionally see your shadchan-only photo, contact details, questionnaire responses, notes, reviews, and matchmaking history. Sharing with all shadchanim: your profile and matchmaking information may be made available to any and all shadchanim affiliated with Shidduch Lounge for the purpose of identifying and suggesting potential matches — including shadchanim who did not staff, and were not present at, any event you attended. A shadchan does not need to have met you or worked an event with you in order to view your profile and consider you for a match. By using the platform, you consent to this sharing of your profile across our network of shadchanim. Third-Party Service Providers: we work with SendGrid (Twilio) for transactional email delivery, Stripe for payment processing, Google Cloud Storage for secure photo and document storage, and Google OAuth for optional sign-in. Each vendor is bound by their own privacy and data-processing commitments. Legal Requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or where necessary to protect the safety, rights, or property of Shidduch Lounge or others.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including password hashing (bcrypt), encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access controls that limit data visibility by user role. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We use a server-side session cookie to keep you authenticated while you use the platform. This cookie is essential for the service to function and does not track you across other websites. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
Shidduch Lounge is intended solely for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact us at hello@shidduchlounge.com and we will remove the account promptly.
You have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information in your profile at any time via your account settings; request removal of your account and associated data by contacting us directly; opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP to any text message we send, or by contacting us at hello@shidduchlounge.com; opt out of non-essential emails by contacting us at hello@shidduchlounge.com; and control photo sharing — you can toggle whether your photo and résumé are publicly shareable from your dashboard settings. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@shidduchlounge.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Our platform may contain links to external websites (e.g., shidduchlounge.com). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their policies separately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users via email.
